Mini Train Station
This Train and train station dates back to 1953 or the golden age of Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. The original train was lost to time but like the carousel the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust was able to find one of the exact make and model of the era. The founding chair of the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust, M. Athalie Range, was especially fond of the trains as she went to the beach as a young girl and was appointed to work for AMTRAK by President Jimmy Carter. Ms. Range also had an illustrious career in being the first female black commissioner for the City of Miami as well as being a champion civil rights activist.
